Sale 3 – Paul Swindell Clearance Sale

During the winter months of 2016/17 Paul made the decision that he wanted to race longer distances than those that were on offer with the Irish pigeon-racing organisations.

He was, and still is, of the opinion that the French season is too short and is shoe horned into the wrong part of the season. He was also aware, as he has said in interviews both through the press and on his You-tube videos, that the Irish racing distance pigeon had been allowed to be bred back to a pigeon that was aimed at 450-500 miles one day races.

Knowing this, he had to find birds that could take his family further, he already had top producers from Jelle Outhuijse that had produced him 2nd Quimper 3rd Lamballe & 4th Quimper. He had also had amazing success with birds that he purchased from Dave Goddard of R J Goddard, Reading including 2nd Open Quimper National 2012.
These had been crossed into his own family of birds which had a very strong smattering of Walkingshaw and Tom Marshall birds. Ever looking for the perfect cross he, started to look at the top National racers competing with the BICC in mainland Britain.

His focus was to look for smallish team flyers that were consistently producing top results. So during those winter months he painstakingly scoured the BICC database of results and he came up with the fanciers he wanted to talk to and hopefully purchase birds from.

These were Lee & Kevin Buddle from Dover Kent. Multiple Certificate of Merit winners and very consistent in being near the top in races like Marseille, Perpignan & Barcelona.

Geoff Preece – an incredibly knowledgeable and definitely someone prepared to think outside the box when it came to international pigeon racing.

Simon Knowles – with unbelievable national results, many birds being multiple prize winners and someone prepared to send a 2nd national or even a 1st National prize winning bird back if he believed it had a good chance.

Stephen Rhodes, Mr. consistency – flying a small team he is always there in and around the top positions.

Bill Knox, an absolute gentleman who produced the most exquisite handwritten pedigrees of a family of birds going back 8 generations and some lovely birds.

Dave Bullen from whom Paul purchased 2 children of his 1st International winning Cock “Islas Rainy Day Boy”.

David Hales, unfortunately as we know, David was very ill at this time and sadly passed away later in the year, Fortunately his good friend Duncan helped get Paul some birds for which he is externally grateful.

Finally, but most definitely not least, Bill Stribling. Bill is a real character and someone to whom Paul warmed to immediately. A no nonsense ex-bus driver from Weston Super Mare. Bills birds were from old English strains, tried and tested over generations. Hard as nails and bred to compete against the biggest fanciers from a small garden loft – he epitomised the fancier Paul was looking for

In this sale are 4 of the birds Paul Purchased from L&K Buddle including children of such notable performers for the Buddles as Tom, Mike, Amoy & Pipi.

From Simon Knowles is one of Paul’s prized possessions, a daughter of Simon’s “Little Pea” hen (featured on the auction catalogue cover).

From Bill Stribling, a super cock, son of Bills Boy – 2nd National BBC Palamos 715 miles paired to his own daughter when he Bills Boy was paired to Sylvia, a BBC Spanish diploma winner.

As well as the direct birds there are birds where Paul has match paired the parents to produce youngsters believed perfect to fly the Irish sea and from France into Ireland. These were to be Pauls future along with his own family, unfortunately this was not to be and now is the time for others to benefit from his work.
